A pristine trail filled with adventure, excitement and spiritualism, Chopta Chandrashila trek. One of the most beautiful treks of the Garhwal region, the trail is loved by many hikers, trekkers & mountaineers alike due to its breathtaking panoramic views of the neighbouring mountain peaks such as Nanda Devi, Bandarpoonch, Chaukhamba and many other 7000ers. Despite being graded as an easy trek the Chandrashila trek offers amazing views along the way to the summit. During the climb, you get to see the beautiful emerald lake Deoriatal, the holy shrine of Tungnath, the highest Shiva Temple in the world, and the captivating summit point of Chandrashila.

The overall distance is short which allows everyone to take it easy on the way up which makes Chopta- Chandrashilla one of the best beginner treks. Overall, a great way to enter the lands of the gods i.e. The Himalayas.

Haridwar to Sari village (2014 m)- 195km

The road journey goes through the town of rishikesh to Devprayag which is a confluence of River Bhagirathi and River Alaknanda. The way to Joshimath offers a great view of the Garhwal Himalayas and it stays on the river side throughout the time. The most beautiful part of this day’s journey is that after reaching Ukhimath you might spot some amazing wildlife before reaching the beautiful village of Sari. Accommodation in hotel/guest house.

Sari village (2014 m)- Exploration day- to chopta (2680 m)

Today we start the walk which is a paved path to reach the beautiful lake of Deoriatal in the morning. The lake has its significance in old Hindu myths as well and holds a sacred status amongst the locals. The trail is an easy walk and could be done in no time. The lake is surrounded by dense forests and offers a great view of Mt. Chaukhamba in the distance. Soon we will descend back to sari and after lunch we will head to Kartik swami temple which is perched beautifully in the scenic landscape all around it. After spending some blissful time at the temple we would travel to Chopta which is just a 30 minutes drive. Accommodation in Hotel/Guest house.

Chopta (2680 m) to Tungnath (3587 m) to Chandrashila top (3989 m) and back to Chopta (2680 m) - approx. 9 km trek

Today is the summit push for the magnificent peak of Chandrashila and the trail is well defined till the temple of Tungnath, it is one of the five shrines that makes Panch Kedar of old Hindu mythology. As we start early in the morning in the dark hours, sunrise in the valley below Chopta is mesmerizing and also on reaching to the Tungnath temple one can see the splendid view of many high peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Dunagiri, and many more of high Himalayan summits. From the temple the trail gets steep till the top of Chandrashila from where the view is marvellous 360 degree surroundings mixed with deep valleys, high summits and distant glaciers. In winters the trail is white and snow laden and our support team will be there with you at all times to help you. After spending some time on the top it’s time to descend the same path till Chopta and rest overnight.
