A trail that takes you to 3 different beautiful & mesmerising lakes, not only that you would also get to explore different mountains with different mountainscapes on each day of the hike. The Lakes of Manali is a multi-day hike that takes you to the higher flanks of the Manali region. The first stop of the hike is the beautiful Beas River which provides the entire region of Kullu including the wildlife & the human population. The Beas kund lake is situated at an altitude of 3892m which is a long hike but not as challenging for seasoned trekkers, the route takes you on an uphill climb along the Beas river to the source ‘Beas kund lake’.

Our next destination is one of the lesser-known treks of the region, the sacred Rani Sui lake AKA Saurkundi trek. The Rani Sui lake is situated at an altitude of 3400m in the western mountains of the Manali region, it is a gradual & short hike to reach the lake but once you reach you will be in awe with the beauty of this paradise.

Our third and last destination is the beautiful high-altitude 4304m glacial lake perched on a meadow on the eastern mountain of the Manali region known as the Bhrigu Lake. This hike provides breathtaking views of the grasslands and alpine meadows, as well as glimpses of the seven sister peaks. There are many opportunities for photographers to capture nature in all its splendour thanks to the expansive view of the snow-covered mountains and their reflections in the lake.

Arrival At Manali

Our team will be greeting you at Manali, we would expect you to arrive by afternoon at Manali, Introduction and briefing sessions for the coming days.

Manali To Beas Kund (3892 m) and back

Starting early we would make our way to Dhundi via Solang Nallah on a 21 km route which would take one hour by a 4x4 vehicle. The trail starts from a construction site of a power project on Bear River. The trail is very gradual and easy, however just before reaching the morain field next to Bakarthatch the path is steep and after crossing the moraines the descent will take us to the Beas kund- a tiny lake perched under the high cliffs of Mt. Shitidhar and Friendship Peak. After spending some time at the lake we would descend back to Manali via Dhundi. The attraction of the trek is not just the Lake, it is the high mountains that surround the landscape. Mt. Hanuman Tibba dominates the whole path and some may even distinguish the different structure and architecture of Dhauladhar Range and Pir Panjal Range.

Manali to Rani Sui Lake(3400 m) and Back

An early and light weight start for this day would be our best bid as the trail will be steep yet short in distance. The initial way is through the forest and small meadows that keep coming up as a surprise and add to the perspective as we gain altitude. Soon some parts of Hampta Valley can be seen from here and the mountains of Pir Panjal range starts to take all the attention. The Lake is a very small fresh water lake situated on a small ridge like mountain structure. It is a sacred lake and on a few festivals every year it is permitted to take a dip in its icy cold water. The summit of Khanpari tibba can be seen from here in the distance and lots of small villages spread across the huge valley below. There are chances that we may have to cross some snow sections as well on our way up. After some time exploring the area we will trace our steps back to reach Manali before evening.

Manali to Bhrigu lake (4304) to Pandu Ropa

The day will start in the dark hours of the day and we will start our trek from Vashishtha Village. The trail is a gradual ascent until the cliffs appear and then the trail goes Zig-Zag, and opens up in a small meadow. You may be able to see the Mountain we climbed the day before for Rani Sui Lake as we gain altitude, the trail soon closes to the end of tree-line and from here till the lake it is a gradual traverse along the meadows of Pandu Ropa. We would be able to see the vast Lahaul and Spiti region and its mountain ranges from here and also the mighty Dhauladhar ranges next to it along with the Rohtang Pass and its mountain range protecting the Kullu Valley from the dry climate of Spiti. The lake is situated at the left of the meadow and as we get closer to the lake the view opens up for Hampta Valley as well. The lake has sacred beliefs and we will explore the region without disrespecting any of those beliefs. After some time at the lake we will trace back our steps to Pandu ropa where our team would be waiting for us with hot meals at the camp. Evening in the camps and some stories to share.
