Standing at an elevation of 5287m, Friendship peak is a beautiful peak in the Pir Panjal Range which runs from Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh to the northwest of Kashmir. Friendship peak throughout the climb offers an amazing view of the neighbouring Mt. Hanuman Tibba which stands at an elevation of 5860m. Friendship peak’s expedition in general is a moderate level climb compared to its neighbouring peaks however, it's not short of a challenge. The only easy part of the trek is during the initial phase up till the base camp, gradually the terrain requires climbing on snow ridges & steep snow sections of over 70 degrees inclination angle, there is a crevasse field just below the summit which requires safety and navigation skills.

Once you reach the summit you will be overwhelmed by the panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges of Kullu, Lahaul, & Spiti regions with most significantly Mt. Deo Tibba & Mt. Indrasan. If you are able to perfect the time of the climb you will be in awe at the glorious sight of the sunrise from the top of the mountain.

Arrive at Manali

Our team will meet you at Manali in the morning. The day would be spent in briefings, introductions, preparation and most importantly the activities to enjoy and relax at Manali. Accommodation in hotel.

Lady Leg (3840m) to Summit camp (4200m) and back (Load Ferry)

The walk today would be less in distance yet demanding as the trail goes through the moraines along the flat ridge next to the water stream running down the slope. The hanging glacier of Friendship Peak is very clear all along the way. Given the altitude of this place we will spend a large part of the day arranging our campsite and preparing our body for the push to the top in the coming few days. Descend back to Lady leg before sun down.

Lady Leg (3840m) to Summit camp (4200m)

We will start easy on this day making sure that all members are rested enough and start our trek to summit camp. On reaching the summit camp, our team will help you with the equipment training and route briefing. On this day we will have an early dinner and retire to camps for the whole evening. Summit march will start around midnight. Once we all have prepared and reserved the resources required for this challenging experience to the top.

Summit camp (4200m) to Friendship Peak summit (5287m) to Summit camp (4200m)

As we would start in the dark, the trail becomes more or less invisible, and to carve the path that goes along the hanging glacier of Friendship Peak would require experience and safety measures to navigate through. The trail is mixed with gradual and steep ascents until it reaches the top of a ridge on the right slope of the summit. From here the path is a long steep traverse to reach the top of crevasse fields with huge crevasse right below the summit, the route then goes steeper for a small section that connects to a rocky gully over to the shoulder of the mountain. This section of the mountain is very exposed and the terrain gets 70 degrees inclined till the top. With the help of fixed ropes our team will help you reach the top of the mountain with a 360 degree view of Great Himalayan ranges of Lahaul and Spiti on one side and the massive landscape of Kullu Valley on the other. After a brief time on top we will descend back to Summit camp for a hot lunch.
