Pangarchulla peak is one of the most popular peaks among adventure seekers, standing at an elevation of 4650m with a breathtaking view of the Garhwal Himalayas. Though this Uttarakhand journey is accessible all year, the winter snow makes it truly unsurmountable. If the thrill is directly proportional to the level of difficulty, the Pangarchulla Peak Trek in the winter is a voyage that brave hearts simply cannot afford to miss! The snow-covered trail is a combination of trailing through the various villages, forests, meadows, moraines and snow-covered slopes to the peak of Pangarchulla.

Haridwar to Joshimath

After meeting at Haridwar in the morning at the given time our journey will go via Rishikesh and Devprayag which is a confluence of the Ganges and Alaknanda rivers, the whole road is in good condition and goes along the scenic Ganges river rushing down the mountain, stay at Hotel at Joshimath. Joshimath is a small town which receives a lot of tourists for being very close to the Hindu pilgrimage of Badrinath.

Joshimath to Dhak to Guling (2943m)- 12 km drive and 6 km trek

After breakfast, we head towards Dhak village which usually takes one hour on a beautiful drive on the mountainside, sorting loads from here the trek starts which is easy to ascend going through Tugasi village, and the whole trail is dominated by the mighty Mt. Dunagiri on the opposite side. The trail has few sitting and resting points and also water sources.

Guling(2943m) to Khulara(3225m)- 7 km trek

The trail is mostly through the tree line, the vegetation is mostly a dense mix of the forest. Depending on the month of the year, one could find snow on the trail and amazing wildlife as well. The trail is a gradual ascend and could be easy for those with a good fitness level. Just before reaching Khulara camp the tree line scatters before reaching a vast flat meadow of Khulara. Gelgarh(3678m) to Summit(4650m) to Khulara(3225m)- 11 km trek

This is the important day of the journey to the summit and it will start earliest in the morning. The trail is a gradual ascend in the beginning until you reach the base of the peak which is a huge field of rock and boulders. Depending on the time of the year it could be snow-covered on exposed moraines. From there the summit appears in the distance with a little challenge to reach the top through the narrow ridge which offers a great thrill as the mountain is exposed on both sides. The summit offers a great view of the mountain ranges of Garhwal and Kumaun can be witnessed in almost 360-degree views. Descend back to Khulara.

Khulara to Gurseon Bugyal to Auli and drive to Joshimath- 11 km trek and a 2-hour drive

This is the last day of the trail and takes you through an amazing variety of changing scenic beauty ranging from forests, lakes, valleys, and most importantly the magnificent view of Mt. Nanda Devi which is the highest peak in India with all faces of the mountain within the Indian Borders. Also, the trail ends at the skiing capital of India which is Auli, from here the cab will pick us up to drop us at the Hotel.
