Mt. Shitidhar or ‘White Peak’ stands tall at an altitude of 5250m and is a part of the mountain massif in the Pir Panjal range of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh. Shiridhar is probably one of the best peaks to climb if you’re a fresher as it doesn’t need any prior experience of mountain climbing as most peaks in the Himalayas generally do. To reach the summit there are two ways, one is through Beas Kund and the other via the marvellous Mt. Hanuman Tibba which dominates the whole region. Once you reach the peak, you will be blown away by the breathtaking view of both the Kullu & Lahaul valleys which includes many well-known giants such as Mt. Deo Tibba, Mt. Indrasan, Mt. Ladhakhi, Mt. Rocky challenge, Friendship peak & many many more.

Arrival at Manali (2050 m)

The day is reserved for introduction to the team, briefing sessions and acclimatization. Our team will welcome you at the hotel/guest house, we would expect you to reach Manali before afternoon on this day.

Manali (2050 m) to Bakarthatch (3290 m)

In the morning after having our breakfast at the hotel/guest house, our transport team will drive us to Dhundi via Solang. The trail starts from here which is a very gradual ascent through forest and mixed vegetation. The campsite is a large relatively flat grass field with Mt. Hanuman Tibba dominating the view and Beas river raging down the slope next to it.

Bakarthatch (3290 m) to Beas Kund (3720 m)

The day's trek mostly through rocky terrain and a gradual ascend along the water stream flowing in the pasture, the trail eventually reaches a point where we cross Beas River over to the other side. The terrain is a mix of moraines and scree in this part until with a small descent it reaches a vast plain in the middle of the mountains. Mt. Hanuman Tibba and Mt. Ladakhi dominates the view, with their hanging glaciers regularly creating avalanches and massive roars from time to time. This would be our base camp for the next few days.

Camp 1 (4650 m) to Summit (5250 m) to Beas Kund (3720 m)

The starting time for the summit bid would remain in the dark hours of the morning or late mid-night depending on the average pace of the team. This day would be challenging as we make our way mostly over the glacier and snowy sections on the inclined face of the mountain. There are few gullies to climb through until just below the summit we have to traverse a little and head straight up to the top. The view from the top is amazing as one could see the whole Lahaul and Spiti region laid in front of their naked eyes, a greater perspective to how different mountain ranges are from each other and how unique they are. After spending some time at the top we will head back straight to our base camp at Beas Kund. Rest and overnight camp.
