Valley of flowers is one of the most famous biodiversity hotspots, it is home to thousands of species of flora and fauna in one wide and shallow valley. The landscape of the valley is simply beautiful! Covered in a thick layer of colours with plants twisting and swirling amongst each other allows the valley to appear like a genius work of art by mother nature. The geographical setting of the Valley of flowers has the perfect climatic system to sustain such biodiversity. Unfortunately, due to climate change a sudden drop in the number of species of flowers has been noticed in past years. The trail remains one of the most popular destinations for beginners and true wanderers of wilderness.

Haridwar to Joshimath (2042 m)

After meeting at Haridwar in the morning at the given time our journey will go via Rishikesh and Devprayag which is a confluence of the Ganges and Alaknanda rivers, the whole road is in good condition and goes along the scenic Ganges river rushing down the mountain, stay at Hotel at Joshimath. Joshimath is a small town which receives a lot of tourists for being very close to the Hindu pilgrimage of Badrinath.

Ghangaria (2990 m) to Hemkund Sahib (4300 m) to Ghangaria (2990 m)- 12 km trek

The day’s trail is a gradual ascent yet it is significant elevation gain for a day. Hydration is crucial for such hikes at such altitudes. The trail is well marked and in summer months a huge number of pilgrims walk the route to reach Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib. Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib is a very peaceful Shrine situated at an elevation of 4329 m above sea level. One can enjoy delicious food from the Gurudwara’s Langar! After exploring the Gurudwara, head back to Ghangaria for the night.

Ghangaria (2990 m) to Valley of Flower (3546 m) to Ghangaria (2990 m)- 10 km trek

Today is the most rewarding day of the whole journey as the day is marked by one spectacular landscape after another. The valley of flowers is a shallow as well as wide valley which allows a great number of wild species of Flora and Fauna to thrive here! The whole landscape gets covered with multi-colored and amazing shapes and designs of flowers. Mixed with the scent of many flowers the valley has an enchanting essence in its air. Trail is easy and after spending enough time exploring the Valley we will head back to Ghangaria for the night.
